OMG, sugar lovers, this is heaven right here. I discovered this pie few days ago accidentally when I was binge watching YouTube food videos. Let me tell you, I was really surprised that this one came from the English cuisine - I know, I also thought there is no such thing 🤣😂😁
Anyway, no one I asked have ever heard of this one and what a shame.
Let me also add that it is super easy to make. What a treasure!
Well, of course I had to play with it and make it my own, it's just stronger than I am. I just hope I changed it for the better, because I never actually tasted the original version.
So my changes start with the base of the pie. I used oreo cookies instead of the original butter cookies base. To make it easier I used premade caramel sauce instead of hours of making caramel sauce from condensed milk. I added salted roasted peanuts to the caramel layer, for oh so good addition of flavors and crunch, and finally I used my favorite vanilla pudding frosting instead of the original whipped cream topping.
For the base
25 chocolate oreo cookies with your choice of filling
4 tablespoons soft butter
For the caramel layer
I can dulce de leche
⅔ cup roasted salted peanuts
3 sliced bananas
For the vanilla frosting filling
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup milk
1 package instant vanilla pudding (make sure not to buy the cooked version)
Some shaved chocolate for garnish
Make the base
Heat the oven to 325°f/160°c
Place all the ingredients in a food processor and mix well till all the butter and cookies combine to a moist crumbly mixture.
Spread the mixture on the bottom of a pie pan and press it tightly to the bottom and sides of the pan using flat surface like the bottom of a cup.
Place in the oven and bake for 7-10 min.
Remove from the oven and let cool
Assemble the caramel layer
Submerge the dulce the leche can in boiling water for few min
Open the can and spread the caramel on top of the oreo base.
Spread the salted peanuts evenly on top of the caramel, and press them in using a spoon.
Arrange the sliced bananas evenly on top of the caramel.
Make the vanilla frosting
Place all the ingredients in the mixer bowl
Mix on high speed till soft to medium peaks form
Spread on top of the bananas.
Garnish with some chocolate shaving
